A.) Jim Zuckerman
I choose this artist because I really love how he captures the love between a parent an their child. Also, some of the shots are zoomed in more to expose all of the details of the animals. Especially in the picture above, you can really see all the fur on the older monkey's hand and even the little furs on the baby's chin. And I really love babies and pictures of families, human or not! This photographers theme is wild life and in these particular pictures he is concerned with capturing a parent and their child or children. I think he shoots animals and animal families because it is was interests he.
B.) Henry Clarke
I liked this artist's pictures because he shot fashion and made the models sexy without being over exposed. These model are definitely beautiful, but they are still classy and fully clothed! Also, all of these picture are in black and white. I think the color choice is part of his theme; but also that he shoots older fashion. I like that the artist choose to have his pictures in black and white because even though the fashion is different from today's society it gives them that timeless look.
C.) Henri Cartier-Bresson
This artist's pictures are not as good as some of the others I have seen but strangely, they are the most appealing and interesting to me. This artist shot his pictures from odd angles, just like I like to do! I thinking shooting this way gives new light to a picture. You can take a simple object and turn it into something interesting and possible unrecognizable just by the angle it is taken from. I think the artist is concerned with capturing people in their natural habitat. Also, for the most part there is always someone in motion. I would guess his theme is city or town life.
#2: 3 Photojournalism:
A.) Romance and Ruin, All in the Air
In this photojournalism piece Kerri MacDonald and Darcy Eveleigh documented the blimp. They documented this from 1919 to 1955. The photographs are meant to show the celebratory moments, and tragedy, of the blimp throughout history. I think MacDonald and Eveleigh were very successful with that because the photographs have a common theme and look as though they belong together. They all show the success and failure of the blimp throughout history. Every photo is in black and white and pertain to blimps in some way. Even if the photo does not have a blimp in it, you know that it belongs with the other photos because of the caption below the photo. I feel as though these photographs were able to tell a story and document the truth of the history of the blimp. http://lens.blogs.nytimes.com/2012/03/20/romance-and-ruin-all-in-the-air/
B.) A Liberating League
This photojournalism displays people in their natural state, especially in New York City. It shows all the different types of people we have living in one area. Within in place there are so many different cultures and styles of living. All of these photographs are displayed in a museum. In these photos you can see true poverty and those in high class. I believe this photojournalism piece is very identifiable because they all share a common theme, to expose us to the true city life. The poverty and natural life of these photos are all taken with a similar style that makes them consistent and identifiable. http://lens.blogs.nytimes.com/2012/03/15/a-liberating-league/
C.) Dark Light and Constant Change
This photographer choose to capture photos that showed life; he wanted to slow it down and freeze it in frame. This was successful for me because the photos show things that most people do every day but do not think about. This forces us to slow down and truly appreciate its beauty. Every photo is in black and white and has that element of contrast and value that keeps them consistent with each other. I think that if all of these photos were spread out all over the classroom I would be able to put them together as a common theme. Also, it is very easy to identify what these photos are about; they capture everyday aspects of life and freeze them. http://lens.blogs.nytimes.com/2012/03/12/dark-light-and-constant-change/
#3: Photographers similar to my photojournalism:
Sally Mann:
I choose Sally Mann because I love her work. She was my inspiration for my photojournalism because I love the way she wasn't afraid to take risks with how she shot her children. My favorite ones are when the children aren't looking at the camera but seem to be preoccupied by something else. I will go in a different direction with the project but when I first heard the project I immediately thought of Sally Mann.
Walker Evans:
As I was looking for more photographers I can across Walker Evans. He mostly shot business men going about their day and his photojournalism really intrigued me. When I saw the one above with the guys playing basketball I knew that was the style picture I wanted for this project.
I also like that the photo is shot from above, I think the photographer is standing on bleachers and I don't think I will have access to some but I would love to explore different camera angles with this project.
Ozier Muhammad:
These photos by Ozier Muhammad are the most similar to what I want to do with this project. These guys seem to be in the moment with their game. However, I don't want to just take pictures of sports, I want to show how any group of people can be a family. A family is simply two or more people who care for each other. But anyway, I really liked the shot of the two guys playing basketball because they are really in the moment of the game and seem to be having a lot of fun.
Fashion Journal:
Mark DeLong: http://www.markdelong.com/fashion-photography
I love Mark DeLong's work! Especially his more simple work. He can take a simple product and make it beautiful, or just go crazy with it and still manage an amazing shot.
TheBerry; Megan http://theberry.com/2010/10/07/lovely-fashion-photography-9-photos/
I love her nature shoots with the blown out contrast and all the color are really beautiful. The shadows on the models face are very well executed and I love that you can't actually see the girls face. The shots are all from the back or from a distance.
Jason Christopher http://jasonchristopher.com/photography/fashion
In Jason Christopher's photos are very interesting. they very so much just in the one section that I saw. I really like the first ones in the prom dresses where all the girls look like their just having fun and taking pictures. they don't look like models that are working; I love the more playful pictures.
Ezine:
I really like all of these photographers. They all have such unique styles and take amazing pictures. i know I'm just starting out in the photography area but I love it already and hope I can take pictures like these photographers one day!
